Artuta is happy to introduce our Comics Drawing Workshop! This workshop offers students opportunities to learn foundational skills needed for comics drawing, such as storytelling, character design, and comic strip structuring. Co-taught by our instructors, Jerry (remotely) and Kosuke (in-person), the workshop takes place in-person at Tappeto Volante in Brooklyn.
We’ll be having Comics Drawing workshops in November and December, taught by age group. Younger students (ages 10-14) will learn to create a 4-frame comic strip, while the older students (ages 15-18) will make a one-page comic. Students will learn how to use basic drawing tools and with guided exercises, students will design expressive characters, develop simple stories, and explore the essentials of panel layout and composition. By the end of each workshop, each student will have completed their own comic, while applying the techniques they learned.
This workshop is a great preview of our Comic Drawing Course coming in January 2025, in which students will be creating a full comic book. Stay tuned!
